Kindergarten: Oil Pastel Snowmen

The snow just won't go away; it feels like it will forever stay! With our inspiration of the outdoor blizzard, these young artists experimented with oil pastels for the first time in the Patriot Room and practiced repetition and creative expression! Burrrrrr-illiant!

1st Grade: Self-Portrait Practice

I love using mannequins! Whether downtime, a mini-lesson, or a reward day, my artists love getting a chance to use these! Drawing facial expressions, self-portraits, and understanding body language are all techniques that are great to work on for not only improvements on creative expression, but also to understand body proportions, observational drawing, and these skills transfer over to when we critique people within artwork.

I love how intense they get as they work! It makes for a smiling art teacher's heart! :)
